Fire Update

It is now 10:30am on Tuesday.

So last night after getting the call to evacuate we....decided not to go.

The kids were in bed and we couldn't see how the fire was all that close. So us and a couple of neighbors hunkered down and got a good night sleep.

Looks like we made the right call. We got up this morning and all the fire had gone North so there seems to be no danger to our neighborhood.

But we still packed up and left this morning. The smoke and ash are just too much. Mindy couldn't stand the thought of being trapped in the house with 4 kids for 2 or 3 more days and we just want to breathe fresh air again.

We packed up both cars. I came to work in Newport Beach. And Mindy is still driving on her way to LA and her Sisters house.

For now our little adventure is over. We will likely stay up here for several days, especially if the fires continue towards the ocean, which would close down The 5, and prevent us from getting back.

As we emerged from our house this morning it was eerily quite. About 95% of our neighbors had left. A rare sight to see the streets abandoned and the sky full of smoke.

For those of you wondering why we live here, ask me that in February, for those of you who live in the snow, or ask me when you come visit and we are sitting on the beach watching the sun set.

I'm glad you are OK. I almost called you about 5AM before I left for the Temple.
Virginia Clark said that David said that one of their friends house burned to the ground - don't know who it was but I was sure glad to get home & hear your news!

Wild! I'm so glad you're in the clear!

Oh, and I will call you in January when, after playing in the snow the day before, Mike is out golfing in 65 degree weather.

We love you... praying for you as usual... just a little more now- good thing you are all close enough to family that you can all keep tabs on each other.

And side note: I think you and Mindy are quite possibly the cutest married couple I have ever known.... I should find me one of you-types...:)

I've been keeping up with you via the grapevine and your blog. With all of you at Mur's it must seem like qualcom.
