Dinner, So Cal Style

So Wednesday we decided, last minute, to meet our good friends Troy and Mandy for dinner. It's a challenge to get together so we have to seize the chance.

A challenge because:

- I live in San Diego but work in Newport Beach - 74 miles North of our home
- Troy lives in Laguna Nigel but works in Carlsbad - 50 miles South of his home
- Carlsbad is 20 miles North of our home
- Laguna Nigel is 15 miles South of my work

Confused yet?

Well we decided to meet in Solana Beach, 10 miles North of our home.

Mindy had a babysitter and was shopping in Carlsbad. So she drives back to Solana Beach.

I leave Newport early for the 60 mile drive (but it is my normal commute route)

Troy leaves work in Carlsbad, where Mindy happened to be shopping, and drives South to the Solana Beach train station. Mandy, his wife, had caught the Amtrak train in Laguna Nigel to Solana Beach

So dinner included:

5 cities
3 cars

150 miles
1 Amtrak train
2 babysitters (at $10 an hour)
8 kids with babysitters on a school night

Yeah...
So how was your lame dinner at Macaroni Grill in the strip mall 3 miles from your home with your friends who live across the street?

We have to have some benifits for living here. Oh yeah, by the way, I pay my sitters $5/hour and that's pretty good! Ha Ha!
